Tweeted, "Baked humans, it's whats for dinner!" today, but really it is starting to cool down. The weather is a pretty safe topic no matter where you are because your opinion is really unlikely to offend anyone. So, I prefer the heat of AD to the humidity of HK. I also find the people here to be pretty friendly. I haven't had the chance to drive much and that can be a bit more aggro but that's mainly because the rules of the road are in the hand of the driver. Most traffic guides, e.g. signs, painted arrows don't mean a lot, but the signals (lights or robots) get the attention they deserve. The key means of traffic management here has been engineering because not everybody is on the same page in terms of driving knowledge and there doesn't appear to be a whole lot of enforcement of whatever the rules of the road are. This engineering of safety means you make a lot of U-turns around traffic islands that run down the middle of every significant road and that you wait a very long time at signals. Each direction gets their own light for straight, left turns and U turns. There are a lot of cars but the factor that delays most travel is the length of time waiting for the signal to change. Oh yeah, and it's my birthday.
Awwwwww happy birthday Mr Williams! :D Please accept my belated wishes! >_<
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that you can't stay at BU and teach us DGC courses any more. D: I took DGC1180 last semester and I really enjoyed it. The notes of design principles and movements in your website benefit me a lot. (I'm a theory lover xD
I'm now going through the resources of DGC2130 and DGC2220 on your website. (Oh by the way, most of their directing links still remain "www.coms.hkbu.edu.hk/*" and some of them are totally unavailable even if I've changed the URL address. It would be very helpful if you can have them edited. xD) I do wish I could have the lectures. T_T
Despite the fact that you're no longer teaching at BU, can I still consult you on communication and design problems? The DGC Option is now faced with a crisis and I really want to learn as much as I can before anything bad actually happened to this major.
Best regards! From Jill.
Well obviously I don't check this too often. I don't generally get replies. You are now in your last year and hopefully the course is working out for you. You will be one of the last DGC graduates in its brief history. I would be glad to help you with any questions my new email is russell.williams@zu.ac.ae. I have been reactivating a lot of the parts of my website and I was thinking about fixing the links because it causes me trouble as well.
ReplyDeleteI do hope it is going well and I appreciate your kind words.
